Specialised treatment for trauma and other issues
EMDR Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a well-established, evidence-based therapy designed to help people process and recover from difficult or distressing experiences.
When something overwhelming happens, the brain can struggle to fully process the memory, leaving it feeling “stuck” and easily triggered in the present. EMDR helps the brain reprocess these experiences so they feel less intense and no longer have the same emotional impact.
During EMDR sessions, we use gentle, guided bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements, tapping, or sounds) while you focus on aspects of a troubling memory. This supports the brain’s natural healing processes, allowing new, more adaptive perspectives to emerge.
EMDR can be effective for a range of issues, including trauma, anxiety, phobias, and low self-esteem. It does not require you to go into extensive detail about your experiences, and many people find it a structured yet flexible approach that leads to meaningful and lasting change.
EMDR treatments typical are between 6 and 18 sessions and each session is typically 90 minutes. I charge £90 per session and would be happy to have a chat with you if you feel EMDR could be beneficial for you.
